The X-T50 Dedicated Film Simulation Dial problem [SOLVED!]
The solution is fairly straight forward. Simply allow each of these positions to be customizable and saved.
That means that Fujifilm should have 2 slots for each of their film simulations, one default, and another (if used) custom recipe.
X-T50 Film Simulation Dial Positions
Current Limitations
Dial positions are fixed and cannot be reprogrammed
Proposed Dial Enhancements
Making dial positions customizable with user-created recipes
Each dial position would be either default or custom.
Adding visual indicators in the viewfinder/LCD when using custom versions
Customization should have an option to "return to default" or "reset to stock recipe".
- STD Provia (white=Custom)
- V Velvia
- S Astia
- CC Classic Chrome
- RA Reala Ace
- NC Classic Negative
- NN Nostalgic Neg.
- A Acros
- FS1 Monochrome
- FS2 PRO Neg. Std
- FS3 Eterna Bleach Bypass
Since Film recipes rely on a stock recipe, we can customize each of these. Each one will be either default or customized.
For instance, one could customize Provia, Astia, and Nostalgic Neg. If there is a customization, there should be a graphical indication. Here, I've indicated that these 3 are custom by simply reversing the black circle for white and reversing the abbreviations to black.
We should also be able to customize whatever stock recipe we assign to the FS1, FS2 and FS3 positions.
Customization should have an option to "return to default" or "reset to stock recipe".
Fujifilm already provides three customizable options (FS1, FS2, FS3), so you can add some of the left-out film simulations back to the dial.
I'm sure we could 'suffer' the fact that we can't change the hardcoded stock recipe positions for all but FS1, FS2, and FS3.
If we can sell this idea to Fujifilm, I think we would all be happier with the new and improved dedicated FilmSim dial.
